Why You Need to Visit The House of 1000 Mirrors

Long ago, in a far away village, there was a place known as the House of 1000 Mirrors. A happy and exited little dog learned of this place and decided to visit. When he arrived, he bounced happily up the stairs to the doorway of the house. He pranced through the doors with his ears lifted high and his tail wagging as fast as it could. To his great surprise, he found himself staring at 1000 other happy little dogs with their tails wagging just as enthusiastically. He smiled a great smile, and was answered with 1000 great smiles just as warm and friendly. As he left the house, he thought to himself, “This is a wonderful place. Im gonna come back and visit it often!”

In the same village, another little dog, who was not so happy, decided to visit the house. He cautiously climbed the stairs and hung his head low as he peaked through the door. When he saw the 1000 unfriendly looking dogs staring back at him, he growled at them and was horrified to see 1000 dogs growling right back at him. As he left, he thought to himself, “That is a horrible place. I’ll never go back there again!”

This Japanese folktale has a very important message: All the faces in the world are mirrors. Within them you see elements of yourself.

What kind of reflections do you see in the faces of the people you meet?

Have you ever met someone who constantly talks about how people are? “People are so flaky”, “That guy’s a prick”, “She’s such a snob”, “They’re such a-holes!”

In contrast, I’m sure you’ve also come across people who are incredibly friendly, compassionate, loving and giving. Aren’t they usually surrounded by like-minded people?

Why do you think when you’re in a bad mood, people irritate you more? Cause your temper is boiling? Cause you’re in a negative state? Could it also be that you’re projecting differently?

How about the opposite. How come when you’re in a good mood it’s a pleasure to be around people? Did you change or did they?

You get what you give. In more ways than you think. Call it “karma”, call it the “law of reciprocity”, ”cause and effect”, “law of attraction” or ”projection”.

The bottom line is, we see things in others that exist within ourselves – the good and the ugly. Wouldn’t you much rather see the good?! Well, in order to see the good in others we must FIRST show it ourselves.

Coming to this conscious realization is a huge step in improving our relationships with others. But it’s an even greater step in knowing ourselves at a deeper level. And that really empowers us to consciously intend our outcomes instead of falling victim to our unconscious and self-defeating patterns.

As with most shifts in consciousness, this is more about awareness than action. See how this new awareness changes your daily interaction with people. It’ll totally change your life, like it continues to do for me!

“The way we communicate with others and with ourselves ultimately determines the quality of our lives.” — Anthony Robbins

For a terrific resource related to this topic check out THE SECRET OF THE SHADOW, by Bestselling Author Debbie Ford.

I also recommend the Best Selling Book, WHY GOOD PEOPLE DO BAD THINGS.

They’ll really help you understand people, (and yourself), better.

It really helped me!
